DONNA BRUNSMA has worked throughout Europe
and North America coaching and accompanying many of the world’s
international opera singers including Richard Tucker, William
Warfield, Mirella Freni, Nicolai Ghiaurov, Alfredo Kraus, Ruggiero
Raimondi, Jose Carreras, Samuel Ramey, Renee Fleming, and Dimitri
Hvorostovsky. She has collaborated in master classes with Renata
Scotto, Luciano Pavarotti, and Tito Gobbi, among others.
As an assistant conductor and coach with the Lyric Opera of
Chicago for many years, her work included coaching young artists
of the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists. In Europe, Ms.
Brunsma has been an assistant conductor for the Maggio Musicale
in Florence, the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, and the
Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon, and has worked on the music staff
of the Theatre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels.
Since 1997, she has been vocal coach for the Opera Theatre
and Music Festival Lucca, a summer program in Italy sponsored
by the University of Cincinnati. Now semi-retired, she remains
active as a pianist and organist as well as guest faculty at
the Interlochen Arts Academy.
